

The Public Relations Manager is responsible for developing, supporting and executing strategic PR and communications plans that elevate Sprouts Farmers Market’s brand visibility, reputation, and engagement. Reporting to the Vice President, of Marketing, this role manages both proactive campaigns and reactive communications.
The position drives editorial coverage, enhances brand visibility, and brings Sprouts’ story to life through compelling storytelling, seasonal campaigns, product launches, and unique activations. It also ensures all communications support Sprouts’ business goals and explores new opportunities for media engagement and collaboration across the company.
This role leads external communications, including media relations and event activations, at both local and national levels. It oversees PR efforts for new store openings, influencer and media events, and always-on storytelling that highlights Sprouts’ distinct product offerings. The position also partners with PR agency and vendor relationships, ensuring alignment with brand strategy.
This highly collaborative role works cross-functionally with teams including Social Media, Influencer Marketing, Customer Relations, Investor Relations, Food Safety, Legal, Crisis/Risk, Store Operations, and the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation.
Overview of Responsibilities
Strategic Execution
- Lead the development and execution of integrated PR strategies that increase brand awareness and improve public perception.
- Plan and execute national and regional consumer PR and influencer campaigns.
- Identify timely, high-impact opportunities for earned media and brand storytelling.
- Lead in-market activations and events to drive awareness, trial, and brand affinity.
- Create scalable tools, templates, and strategies to support PR and influencer initiatives.
Media & Influencer Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with media, journalists, influencers, and key stakeholders.
- Oversee the creation and distribution of press materials, PR mailers, and newsroom updates.
- Manage the Media@sprouts.com inbox, handling media inquiries, in-store filming requests, and field team support.
Event & Activation Management
- Assist in the planning and execution of media and influencer events, new store opening activations, and seasonal PR campaigns.
- Support the execution of public relations efforts surrounding Sprouts’ Grand Openings, ensuring media engagement, influencer participation, and local community involvement.
- Coordinate event logistics, media invitations, and on-site press support to maximize earned media opportunities.
Reputation & Crisis Communications Support
- Act as the primary media contact in sensitive or crisis situations.
- Draft holding statements, media responses, and messaging for Customer Relations and Social Media during high-impact situations.
- Monitor media coverage and social conversations to proactively identify potential risks or opportunities for response.
Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Monitor, analyze, and report on PR performance, offering data-driven recommendations for improvement.
- Prepare reports summarizing PR wins, challenges, and areas for growth.
Budget Management
- Support budget management, ensuring effective use of resources to support business goals.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field required.
- 7-10 years of experience in public relations, with agency or in-house experience in retail, consumer goods, or food & beverage industries preferred.
- Strong media relations expertise with a proven ability to secure national and regional press coverage.
- Excellent writing, communication, and storytelling skills with experience drafting press materials and key messaging.
- Proficient in project management and skilled in leading cross-functional teams. Responsible for effectively plan projects, manage timelines, achieve results, and cultivate positive relationships.
- Experience coordinating PR events, activations, and influencer collaborations.
